Jack fruit is a seasonal fruit abundant in Kerala with varied human consumption. Nutritious, fibre rich and pesticide free ripe jack fruit has a distinctively strong aroma and is naturally sweet. Chakka varatti is a popular jack fruit delicacy of Kerala which is made with fully ripe jack fruit bulbs. Chakka varatti or Jackfruit Jam is mainly a preserve and if made in the right consistency can be stored and used for more than a year with out any added preservatives. Making this preserve involves a lot of patience and labor. Fully ripe jack fruit bulbs have to be first cooked with jaggery and ghee and then reduced to the form of a halwa. We adopt the same recipe with the best hygienic practices to bring your nostalgic taste you cherish. It tastes best for desserts. Chakka varattiyathu is used as the main ingredient to make Chakka pradhaman payasam, kozhukatta, kumbilappam, and Ela ada, Jack fruit cakes etc. It is mixed with coconut and used as a filling for steamed dumplings.

How to Use

A] Dip the unopened foil pouch in boiling water for 5 min. Take out and serve hot.

B] Open the pouch & empty the contents into a microwave bowl. Heat on high for 1-2 min and serve hot.

C] Open the pouch & empty the contents into a frying pan. Heat for 3-5 min. Stir well and serve hot.
